Last comments on SB1070

Reading and learning about SB1070 was definently mind opening and discouraging. I've always known this country was racist but to what extent is pretty astounding. I've also come to realize how much hatred people really have torwards one another. I really hope all of this is much gone and dissapears as the years go by. Until then this country that we live in isn't going anywhere other than downhill. Regarding the migrant workers, the feelings I have towards them are most of respect and admiration. Migrant workers have had to tolerate alot throughout the years. Specially living in this country where they have hoped to make it and survive when they couldn't do so in their countries. It's amazing what some people will sacrifice and risk for the love of their families. Before we started learning about SB1070 in our class I stood against it and today I still stand against it, I always will.

Stepping Up for Migrant Workers

Migrant workers only do the jobs US citizens wont do and for low wages they wouldn't tolerate. Migrant workers have had to work in sweatshops, farming, mines, house services etc. Not only are migrant workers doing the dirty jobs but their not getting paid what they should be. US citizens would never go for $6 an hour and I wouldn't be surprised if many would overcharge considering their legal status. In which case many wouldn't get hired for the job. It's all about business and the US government knows they couldn't do it without the cheap overworked laborers they have working in their land. Everyone knows this, they've used immigration for their advantage, but yet they still want to sit here and say immigration is intolerant. It's all about getting up on top and stepping on the people that have helped you get there.

SB1070 yuck! :(

SB1070 is bullshit! I disagree with it and I'm disgusted by it. SB1070 is a racist law that should've never been even considered, considering the fact that it contradicts everything the US is said to stand for. So they say they want the law because of our immigration problem? I say they leave that to the federal government because what Arizona has done is made a tombstone for the people living there and the state itself. I believe the purpose of the law is to minimize hispanics and to segregate them. Hispanics are human beings but aren't being treated as such. Not to mention that hispanics aren't the only population that are immigrants in this country. There are many other cultural groups and races that include illegal immigrants but i can assure you their not the ones being targeted. SB1070 is a ruthless law, it's dishonorable and dirty.

Introducing Me :)

Hi my name is Deyci and this is my first blog ever. I hope to one day become a social worker, that's what I aspire to be. I want to work in an office environment and I want to get the chance to work with kids. I want to continue learning about real world wide issues in English1A and expand my knowledge as well as my vocabulary. This blog will help me do so by giving me the chance to interact with others and have discussions about different topics. In the process I know I will learn new things!

It was devastating to learn about the conditions men and women are working in in some factories. I had never really taken the time to think what their jobs were like or even their lives. I found out some get paid as low as $2.25 a day! It's insane! They don't have air conditioning and are exposed to harmful chemicals. It really devastated me to to find out about these peoples working conditions! :(
